Whether you are a student, a parent or a working professional, you probably have questions regarding careers to pursue. Many a times, a lot of people are making career choices based on what their friends or relatives are telling them. Many of those opinions are based on hearsay and very little knowledge of the options that are available. Probably because they don’t know where to go.
All of us know that urban India has changed dramatically over the past two decades. The last decade has especially seen a dramatic improvement in the choices available for people who wish to move away from the traditionally favourite engineering or medical programs. India now offers an incredible choice of careers. Even in an emerging city like Vizag, jobs are available in many different streams.
Engineering, IT or medicine are a good choice but should be only for the people who have an aptitude for them.

We don’t know everything. In fact we know very little. So, we try to learn as much as we can. We were pleasantly surprised to learn recently that there are Olympiads in some subjects being conducted in India by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education. Selected students are groomed and sent to compete in International Olympiads. Since science and research in basic science is mostly being neglected in India for quite a long time, it was nice to read that some young Indian students are doing quite well in International Olympiads. This only reinforces our idea that we can unearth many geniuses if only the right kind of support is provided.
If you are not yet in XIIth Std and are interested in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy or Junior Science, then you should seriously consider participating in these Olympiads. You can find more information at the Olympiads section of the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.
